Beautiful amber color and mellow umami flavor of roasted tea
This hojicha is made using the traditional Kyoto "sand roasting method." The effect of far-infrared heat from the sand, which is heated to a high temperature, allows the tea leaves to be roasted thoroughly, bringing out a rich aroma and bright amber color.
Moreover, we use the first flush tea leaves, known as "Ichibancha Kariban," which are harvested only once every four years. This gives the tea a mellow umami flavor that lingers, allowing you to enjoy its taste even through the third infusion.
Kyoto Traditional Sand Roasting Method
Tea leaves are roasted together with granular sand. The far-infrared effect of the sand ensures that the leaves are roasted all the way through to the core, resulting in a deep, full-bodied flavor.

Ichibancha Kariban
We select the part of the tea plant most suitable for roasting, which is the "Ichibancha Kariban." This part can only be harvested once every four years during the optimal time for deeper picking. It preserves the rich flavor of the first flush tea while maintaining its robustness even through intense roasting. Carefully roasted, the leaves exude a full, aromatic fragrance.

Shipping. Orders are air-shipped by express courier directly from Tokyo, Japan. To keep everything fresh from maker to doorstep, allow 7–10 days on average from order to delivery. Shipping is free on orders of US$169 or more and a flat US$49 below that. Import duties and taxes, where they apply, are paid by the recipient.
Returns. Because our products are perishable, we cannot accept returns or cancellations once an order has shipped. If anything arrives damaged, incorrect or missing, tell us within 7 days of delivery with photos and we will replace or refund it — see our Refund Policy.

How long does it take to receive an order?
Ramen Kingdom ships directly from Tokyo, Japan via international express. From order to delivery is about 7–10 days on average. Subscribe to our ramen kit and get fresh, delicious noodles whenever you crave them.
How are the kits shipped?
Kits ship in a cardboard box with insulated liners, cool-shield bubble mailers and ice packs so products arrive in the highest quality. Because of the ice packs, contents may freeze in transit — this is normal.
Where do you ship to?
We ship to the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Singapore, Malaysia and most EU countries. Express couriers need a street address and a signature, so we cannot deliver to PO boxes. See our Shipping Policy for the full list.
